As the experience continues to evolve, we want to notify you that effective June 1, we will no longer offer the ability for users to Watch Together.
We are committed to focusing on an experience which highlights the things our users are most passionate about, primarily growing their collections and watching their favorite movies across platforms and devices.
Watch Together with Movies Anywhere allows you to enjoy a synced viewing experience with family and friends. You can send up to 9 other guests a room code or URL to Watch Together the same movie at the same time. All users must either have the same movie in their Movies Anywhere collection or accept a Screen Pass to watch it.
How do I Watch Together with someone?
You can Watch Together by selecting the Watch Together button on the movie details page for movies in your My Movies collection.

Who is eligible to host or join a room to Watch Together?
Movies Anywhere users with a profile rating of PG-13 or higher will be eligible to host or join a room as a guest to Watch Together. Users with a profile rating set to PG or G will not have access to Watch Together. For more information on ratings filters, click here.
How do I send an invite to Watch Together?
Eligible users can follow these steps to share a unique, 6-character room code or URL link:
- Log in to your Movies Anywhere account and go to My Movies
- Select a movie you wish to Watch Together
- From that movie’s details page, select the “Watch Together” button
- On the next screen, select the “I Want to Host” button
- Follow the steps to share the 6-character room code with others (streaming device users: share the 6-character room code using your method of choice)
- Once all guests join the lobby and are set to “Ready,” select “Play Movie” to Watch Together
Notes:
- Once the host starts the movie, no additional guests will be able to join. If someone leaves during the movie, they cannot rejoin the same viewing session unless the host sends out a new code to all guests and starts the movie over.
- Each guest must have the same movie in their own Movies Anywhere collection or accept a Screen Pass for the movie to join.
- To Watch Together on your mobile or streaming device, please update to the latest version of the Movies Anywhere app.
How do I know which movies are eligible to Watch Together?
All eligible movies will have a Watch Together button on the movie details page. Each guest must have the same movie in their own Movies Anywhere collection or accept a Screen Pass for the movie to Watch Together. The movies that are available to Watch Together are subject to change at any time without notice.
Can I share a room code or URL with anyone?
Yes, anyone who receives a room code or URL to Watch Together simply needs to create or log in to their free Movies Anywhere account to join. Movies Anywhere is open to US residents 13 years of age or older. You should not send a room code or URL to Watch Together to any individual who is not eligible to create a Movies Anywhere account. Eligible users must have a profile rating set to PG-13 or higher to host or join a viewing session.
How many people can I invite to Watch Together?
As a host, you can send a room code or URL to up to nine (9) other people to join a viewing session to Watch Together, for a maximum capacity of 10 people. Only two of those people can have access to the same Movies Anywhere account. Each guest must have the same movie in their own Movies Anywhere collection or accept a Screen Pass for the movie to join.
On which devices can I access my movies to Watch Together?
Eligible users are able to Watch Together exclusively on the Movies Anywhere apps or website and supported devices. For a list of supported devices, click here. Access to Watch Together is not available on participating Digital Retailer accounts.
Do I have to pay any fees to Watch Together?
There are no fees for guests or hosts to Watch Together. However, the host and each guest must have purchased, redeemed a digital code, or accepted a Screen Pass for the same movie.
Are bonus features available to Watch Together?
Bonus features are not available for viewing when you Watch Together.
Can I save a movie offline to Watch Together?
Yes, you can save a movie offline before joining a room to Watch Together. You still need an internet connection to Watch Together with friends, but your device will play back the saved movie. This helps minimize buffering.
NOTE: The ability to save movies for offline viewing is only offered through iOS, Android and Amazon Fire Tablet devices.
How do I restrict someone from being able to Watch Together?
To restrict someone from being able to Watch Together, set their profile rating to PG or lower. For more information on the ratings filter, click here.
Can I Watch Together with my guests from outside of the U.S.?
Yes, you can Watch Together outside of the United States. However, you must be a resident of the United States and located within the United States to create a Movies Anywhere account.
NOTE: You must be 13 years of age or older and a resident of the United States, a U.S. territory, or the U.S. associated states of the Federated States of Micronesia and Palau, provided that the Movies Anywhere Service is subject to availability of Digital Retailers and Movies Anywhere content.

Host Playback Controls
During the movie, only the host can pause, rewind, or fast forward. If the host leaves the room during the movie, playback control of the movie will be transferred to the first guest who joined the viewing session. Guests can communicate requests to the host for playback actions using preset messages in the chat feature during the movie.
Emoji Reactions
The host and guests can interact during the movie with emoji reactions and preset messages that display on screen, including requests to pause, rewind or fast forward. To send, select from the icons on the screen. You may toggle reactions on or off by selecting the conversation icon in the bottom right of the control bar.
Tip: On streaming devices, quick reactions can be chosen by pressing the directional buttons (up, down, left, and right) on the remote. This functionality is not available on Apple TV devices.
How do I join with an invitation to Watch Together?
When someone shares a room code or URL to Watch Together, you will receive it via text, email or message. Follow these steps to join:
If you receive a room code:
- Log in or create a Movies Anywhere account
- Go to My Movies and select the movie you’ve been invited to Watch Together
- From that movie’s details page, select the “Watch Together” button
- Select “I’m a Guest” and when prompted, select “Join a Room” and enter the 6-character room code
- You will be placed in the lobby until all guests join and the host starts the movie
If you receive a URL:
- Click the URL in the message you receive
- If already logged in to a Movies Anywhere account, you will immediately be placed in the lobby until all guests join and the host starts the movie
- If not logged in, log in or create a Movies Anywhere account. After you do, you will be placed in the lobby until all guests join and the host starts the movie
